Join a diabetes and mental health network
19 March 2014 Connect
Growing interest among practitioners about the impact of diabetes on mental health has prompted MHPN to work with key diabetes organisations to establish local practitioner networks with this focus across Australia.
MHPN is working with a number of diabetes organisatons including the Australian Centre for Behavioural Research in Diabetes, Diabetes Australia and the Australian Diabetes Council to bring together those working in the diabetes and mental health sectors to discuss how to better support clients.
Networks provide platforms for:
- professional development
- peer support
- improving knowledge of local services and service gaps
- exploring how services and individuals can work together to meet the needs of people with diabetes.
Who can benefit from joining?
Any practitioner with an interest in diabetes and mental health, including:
- general practitioners
- psychologists
- social workers
- nurses
- psychiatrists
- occupational therapists
- counsellors
- diabetes educators
- exercise physiologists
- dietitians.
What you need to do
- Provide your details to register your interest.
- Forward this email to any colleagues who may have an interest in becoming involved.
What happens next . . .
