1800RESPECT: Support for workers and professionals

1800RESPECT is the National Sexual Assault, Domestic Family Violence Counselling Service. The 1800RESPECT website provides professional support accessible for all workers and professionals. The website has been prepared by experts to help you recognise signs of sexual or domestic violence and respond appropriately.

Early Psychosis Workshops

Orygen Youth Health is a world-leading youth mental health organisation based in Melbourne, Australia.

Orygen has three main components: a specialised youth mental health clinical service; an internationally renowned research centre; and an integrated training and communications program.

They provide comprehensive clinical services to young people aged 15–25 with mental health issues in the western and north-western areas of Melbourne. These services include inpatient, acute, outreach, case management, psychosocial programs, peer and family support.

Each year they facilitate a range of workshops for early psychosis professionals as well as other mental health professionals.  Some of our upcoming Melbourne workshops include:

  • Therapeutic Group Work with Young People: 29th April
  • Encouraging Change: The Art and Science of Motivational Interviewing: 1st and 2nd May
  • Working with High Risk Young People: 7th and 8th May

Cancer, Work and You Webinars

If you feel you may benefit from developing an improved understanding about the impact of a cancer diagnosis on your workforce and their families,the Cancer Council NSW's webinar series Cancer, Work & You may be of interest.

The webinar features an interdisciplinary panel with a wealth of experience in this field. Practical and emotional issues commonly experienced when returning to work or working through cancer treatment will be discussed. The panel will provide information and strategies to cope with the challenges associated with ‘Work and Cancer’.

Psychs on Bikes Big Ride / Rolling Conference Hits the Road in May

Psychs on Bikes is a group of mental health professionals riding motorbikes to raise awareness and provide education for mental health issues in rural and remote communities.  

The riders will travel from Perth to Sydney between May 3rd and May 11th, stopping in Kalgoorlie, Ceduna, Port Augusta, Renmark, Hay and Orange on the following dates:

  • Kalgoorlie WA on Sat May 3rd
  • Ceduna SA on Tues May 6th
  • Port Augusta SA on Wed May 7th
  • Renmark SA on Thurs May 8th
  • Hay NSW on Fri May 9th
  • Orange NSW on Sat May 10th

When they stop in each town they will offer modules of mental health information/education to selected groups within the town – both the public and professionals.
