Encourage GP involvement in your network

The following ideas and tools have been developed to make it easier to engage more GPs in your network meetings.

  • Email, fax or write to local clinics providing some information about your network, inviting GPs to attend your next meeting. We've developed some templates to make it easy.

  • Dedicate time in a future meeting to "meet your local GP". GPs could present, answer questions and spend time getting to know the local mental health professionals in their community.

  • Approach a well-known local GP to present to the meeting. A personal approach has often been very well received.
  • Psychiatrist guest speakers are popular with all network members, including GPs. If you have an upcoming meeting with a psychiatrist presenter, consider inviting GPs to this meeting.
  • Drop off a flyer about your network to local medical centres or hospitals. A personal approach will often be welcomed. Download a template flyer.
